Being allergic and having to stay away from your favorite foods sucks. I don’t care what age you are if you have had a chance to eat it and now stare at it when you go grocery shopping you kinda, sorta, want to give it a try again. You figure what’s the harm? It’s not like your fatally allergic to it so why not go for it. One of my allergy foods is potatoes so I bought chips. Besides I was really, really craving something crunchy and I thought it could fit the bill.
Needless to say I won’t do that again. My gums reacted, as well as every other part of my body. I felt like I had the flu and no I didn’t have the flu because I recovered in a really short time frame. I was tired, weak, grumpy and didn’t want to move an inch. I took my allergy meds as directed for when I got hives. (Plus I always have Benadryl on hand since I landed in the hospital with a severe reaction just from testing. I guess when I have to work in an area where people don’t understand my allergies and think I am being weird, or they don’t know that you can have a reaction from just say peanut dust or can’t stand to watch a bunch of people eat something you once loved to eat it is hard.
So I will not be to hard on myself for this major slip up, what I will do is remind myself by writing it down that you can’t do that anymore. Besides you should have an inkling when the stuff didn’t taste that good anymore.
